Program description

The EPA Compliance Plus SMS program sends scheduled amalgam separator inspection reminders and record confirmations to designated contacts at enrolled dental offices, and to the dental service technicians who support them.

US dental practices that place or remove amalgam are required under 40 CFR Part 441 to inspect their amalgam separator on the manufacturer's schedule and to retain the resulting records. Each message reminds a designated contact that an inspection is due and links to a secure, single-purpose mobile page where they photograph the separator and submit the record.

This is transactional service and account notification messaging. It is not marketing. No mobile numbers are purchased, rented, or sourced from third-party lists.

How to opt in

A compliance contact is added by an authorized dental office user, or by the dental service technician assigned to that office, during account enrollment:

1. The contact's name, mobile number, and role are entered in the office's Contacts & Reminders settings.
2. The person adding the contact must actively check a consent box that is unchecked by default. The Add contact button stays disabled until it is checked — this applies only to adding a contact for text reminders, and never to signing up for or using EPA Compliance Plus, which does not require a mobile number.
3. The number then receives a confirmation text and must reply YES. Until that reply is received, no reminder is ever sent to the number.
4. A number that replies STOP, or never replies, receives no messages.

The opt-in form, as shown in the app

SMS is optional. A dental practice can use EPA Compliance Plus without giving any mobile number at all — compliance contacts may be email-only, and practice staff sign in and view, download, and export their records without SMS. Consenting to text messages is never a condition of signing up for or using the service. The checkbox below appears only when someone chooses to add a contact for text reminders, and it is unchecked by default.

• Frequency varies. Reminders follow the inspection schedule in your separator manufacturer's operating manual — commonly weekly or monthly, depending on the model — plus occasional follow-ups when an inspection is still open or overdue.
• Message and data rates may apply, per your mobile carrier plan.

How to stop or get help

• Stop: reply STOP to any message, or remove the contact in the app. You will receive one confirmation and no further messages.

Privacy

We do not sell or share your mobile opt-in information or SMS consent with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes.
